“Southern California Spring Garden Show Blooms at South Coast Plaza”
Spring has sprung at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, where visitors are flocking to the annual Southern California Spring Garden Show to immerse themselves in a world of colorful plants and rare species. The event, now in its 33rd year, has transformed the shopping complex into a garden paradise, inspiring guests to bring the spirit of the season to their own backyards.
The show, held in the Crate and Barrel/Macy’s Home Store wing of the plaza, features over 35 vendors offering a wide range of botanical offerings, from California natives and orchids to succulents and carnivorous plants. Visitors can also enjoy tours led by horticulturists showcasing the diverse collection of palm trees on the property, including the towering Cuban royal palms lining Bear Street.
One of the highlights of the show is the unique and rare plants on display, such as the jewel orchids and terrarium plants from Verdant Vivariums in Fountain Valley. Owner Bonnie Person, a former landscape gardener at Disneyland, has created an elegant display that has caught the eye of visitors, including Martha Stewart.
For plant enthusiasts like Tustin resident Omair Khan and Los Angeles resident Traci Williams, the show is a must-visit event. Khan, a self-described “plant guy,” was seen carrying a box filled with potted succulents and a cactus sprouting cream-colored flowers, while Williams sported a plant-themed T-shirt for the occasion.
With its array of unique vendors, rare plant species, and inspiring displays, the Southern California Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza is a must-see event for anyone looking to add a touch of spring to their home and garden. The show runs through Sunday, so be sure to visit before it ends.
