Southern California December 2023 Median Home Sales Prices and Home Sales Activity
The Southern California housing market continues to show resilience as CoreLogic® releases its monthly residential home sales numbers for December 2023. The data includes information on new and resale single-family homes and resale condominiums from six counties in the region.
In terms of median home sales prices, Southern California saw a 5.1% year-over-year increase, with the median sales price for all tracked properties reaching $720,000 in December. Orange County led the way with the highest median sales price at $1.1 million, followed by Los Angeles, San Diego, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
When looking at the year-over-year changes in median sales prices for each county, Orange County saw the largest increase at 17.6%, while Riverside and San Bernardino counties saw more modest gains of 0.9% and 0.3% respectively.
On the other hand, home sales volume in Southern California declined by -5.1% from December 2022, with all six counties posting annual decreases. San Diego County experienced the largest decline in home sales at -18.1%, followed by Ventura, Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
Overall, the Southern California housing market remains active and competitive, with varying trends in median home prices and sales volume across the region. It will be interesting to see how these trends evolve in the coming months.
