California’s Dream For All Program: Apply Now for Down Payment Assistance
California’s Dream For All program is back and better than ever, offering $250 million in down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers. The program, which aims to help thousands of Californians achieve their dream of homeownership, provides up to $150,000 towards the purchase of a home.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet certain criteria, including being a first-time homebuyer, a California resident, and meeting income and credit score requirements. Additionally, applicants must plan to reside in the home as their primary residence.
One unique feature of the program is the shared appreciation loan, which provides up to 20% of the purchase price of the home. This loan must be repaid when the home is sold, along with a percentage of the home’s appreciation.
Applications for the Dream For All program are now open and will close on April 29. Winners will be chosen at random by lottery, giving all applicants an equal chance of receiving assistance. Those selected will have 90 days to find a home and secure the loan through CalHFA’s Mortgage Access System.
The program first debuted in March 2023 and quickly ran out of funds, so interested homebuyers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
