Top Mortgage Lenders in Oregon Based on Loan Volume
The mortgage lending landscape in Oregon is a competitive one, with nearly 700 different mortgage companies vying for the top spot in total loan volume. Last year, these companies originated about $91 billion in home loans, with a certain Rocket Mortgage coming out on top.
Rocket Mortgage, based in Detroit, secured the top spot in Oregon with $4.6 billion in funded loans in 2021. Their dominance is not surprising given their national #1 ranking. Following closely behind was United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) with $3.5 billion, and Guild Mortgage from San Diego with $3.2 billion.
Interestingly, only two of the top 10 mortgage lenders in Oregon are native companies, both headquartered in Portland. The rest of the list includes well-known names such as U.S. Bank, Caliber Home Loans, Chase, and Wells Fargo.
When it comes to home purchase lending, Guild Mortgage took the lead with $1.7 billion in funded loans, making them the top choice for Oregon home buyers. In the refinance market, Rocket Mortgage once again dominated with $3.8 billion in funded loans.
While the big names in mortgage lending may be popular choices, there are also highly-rated local options to consider. Companies like Willamette Valley Bank and PacRes Mortgage, both based in Oregon, have impressive ratings on Zillow and may offer a more personalized experience for borrowers.
In a state with a variety of lending options, it’s important to explore all your choices before making a decision. Sometimes the best lender for you may not be the biggest name, but a smaller, local company that can provide the personalized service you’re looking for.
