Renovating a Serene Home: The Lucas Siblings’ Design Journey
The Lucas siblings, David, Suzie, and Rachel, have recently completed a stunning renovation of a serene home in La Quinta, California. The seven-bedroom, nine-bath house, spanning 12,000 square feet, now serves as a sanctuary for a couple and their two children who enjoy spending their winters in the warm climate of Coachella Valley.
Inspired by Suzie Lucas’s visits to Bar Tambi in Tokyo, the new design features emerald green and navy blue tones, bronze accents, and wooden elements. The house is organized around a central patio, with landscaping by BYLA Landscape Architects that seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces. The family can now enjoy spectacular mountain views and sunsets surrounded by organic design elements that pay homage to Japanese aesthetics.
Each piece of furniture and lighting in the home contributes to a cozy and visually exquisite atmosphere, with a neutral color palette harmonizing with natural materials like stone and steel. The Lucas siblings carefully balanced the remodel to ensure a seamless transition between the new design elements and the existing structure.
The house was built by Hill Construction Company and designed by the Lucas siblings, with landscaping by BYLA Landscape Architects. The living room features furniture from Fair Design and Avenue Road, while the main bedroom boasts woven Orb lanterns by Alexander Lamont and bed linen by Fog & Fury. The bathroom even opens entirely to the exterior, allowing for a unique indoor-outdoor experience.
An artwork from contemporary art gallery Hohmann adds a final touch of sophistication to the bar area. The Lucas siblings’ attention to detail and commitment to creating a peaceful retreat for their clients shines through in every aspect of this stunning renovation.
