Americans Turning to Fathers for Homeownership Advice: Survey Results and Heartwarming Stories
Americans are turning to their fathers for help when it comes to homebuying, a recent survey reveals. Over half of Americans with a dad or father figure in their life have sought their expertise and advice on purchasing a home.
Buying real estate in today’s market can be daunting, especially for first-time homeowners. The responsibilities of repairs, maintenance, bills, and other tasks specific to homeownership can feel overwhelming. However, many Americans have found solace in seeking guidance from their fathers.
A survey by realtor.com found that 51% of Americans have turned to their dads for advice on buying a home. This number increases to 56% for those who live within a couple of hours of their father. New homeowners, in particular, have sought advice on taking care of their homes, including landscaping, home improvement projects, and financial advice.
Additionally, over 40% of Americans with fathers have had their dads physically help with moving and home repairs. One such heartwarming story comes from Nashville-based father-daughter duo Isaac and Krystalle Bratkovich.
When Krystalle expressed her desire to buy her first home, her father, Isaac, immediately sprang into action to make her dream a reality. They found a home within their price range and size preferences, and Isaac renovated the property for his daughter and her fiancé.
After living in the home for two years, Krystalle’s fiancé was transferred to a different military base, prompting them to put the house on the rental market. Isaac once again stepped in to give the home a facelift before listing it, and it was rented out within 30 days.
Isaac plans to keep the home as a long-term rental, with the option for his daughter to move back in if she wishes. He expressed his pride in watching his children grow and succeed in a challenging world.
This heartwarming story showcases the special bond between fathers and their children, as well as the invaluable support and guidance that fathers provide in the homebuying process.
